Her brother was the MacDonnell clan chieftain, so he should’ve been able to stop her execution, right?
But he was off fighting the English. So the villagers saw their chance and took it.

But they were also afraid because their crops failed, their livestock was dying, and the invading English were getting closer by the day.
Not to mention the pox that had ravaged their village years before, leaving the survivors with scars both seen and unseen.
