Happy adoptiversary to our detective girls. 1st photo. They met & chose us, and we signed the paperwork, one year ago today. (They didn't come home with us right away because we weren't quite ready; then they turned out to have upper respiratory infections that the shelter wanted to clear first.)

This morning I prepped my tea before feeding the pets, which included stepping out to get a mug I’d left on the coffee table. Miss Effie Cat, my supervisor, YELLED at me for leaving the kitchen before feeding her. Guess I know the order of my responsibilities now. 😜
(Photo to show how stern she is)

We've had 4 other cats since he passed, all more or less adults (ages have been hazy--some youngish, but not kittens), and all rescues one way or another. They've all brought their own joys, love, and laughter.
L: Kaga and Squish (both RIP)

This creamsicle boy came from PAWS near Seattle. He was at least 2 yrs old, likely older. His greatest talent was getting into trouble...but he looked after me like no other animal I've ever had. He was the cat love of my life. Said goodbye to him 20 yrs ago this month, still miss him.

“Aren’t you worried about having a huge, strong GSD living with much smaller cats?”
Please see these photos for why we are not concerned about this. The dog was lying on the bed in the second photo until Miss Effie decided to lie there too. He is utterly submissive to the cats.

Ending the weekend on a sweet note. Good night.

Capping off our week of hockey, it’s junior hockey night again. We almost bagged on this one due to cumulative exhaustion from the week, work, & errands today, but ultimately we wanted to see our kids play.

Back at the boy aquarium! Different seats tonight.

This European robin thoroughly disapproves of anyone who would cross the Starbucks picket line.

The U.S. doesn't really do the poppies, but I assume most people understand the meaning. I took these photos last month at the Tower of London, of this exhibit of ceramic poppies commemorating WWII. It's very powerful to see them and reflect on the meaning. lialondon.net/ceramic-popp...

6. Coolest Film Noir Character:
"Acme Bookshop Proprietress" (the character has no name) played by Dorothy Malone in THE BIG SLEEP. Nerdy, educated, smart, up for being part of a PI's adventure, sexy, great banter, and VERY helpful. Her screen time:viewer impact ratio is huge. #NoirvemberChallenge

Just had a very good pub lunch with this attentive young lady monitoring us. Just in case any snacks were available.

We are finishing off our final day in London with a nice calm nature walk. In a cemetery. (Highgate Cemetery, to be specific.)

I posted this image yesterday from the exhibition in London where he talks about this idea and said that the quote made me cry, and this here in the video in the quoted post is is WHY that quote in my image made me cry.

Here’s something for some of the eldergoths, especially those in alt.gothic groups around the turn of the millenium.

Also we saw a group of eldergoths outside the performance venue in Camden. There’s an Adam Ant show tonight. 🫠

Fine, I’ll try it this year. Already a day behind.
1. Favorite Film Noir Opening Scene:
TOUCH OF EVIL isn’t just technically masterful; it also takes what seems fun & celebratory and turns it into horror & dread in a second. Brilliant.

And this was this afternoon’s activity. It was EXCEPTIONAL, a phenomenal look into the process of making a film while also looking deeply into this *specific* film. And a quote that made me cry. I’m so grateful to @realgdt.bsky.social for this exhibition & for being in London so we could see it.

If you know me (especially for a long time) you will know why this outfit in particular resonated with me. And yes, it’s exquisite.

This morning’s activity. My friends, I walked into the room shown here, and nearly started crying with overwhelm. FANTASTIC exhibition.
