It's sad that so many people fell off the deep end. My family has always been bigots, homophobic, racist, etc. I'm sorry you've lost people to this nonsense. It's a weird feeling to grieve people who are still living.

I remember my childhood pastor/school principal mocking educated people. He'd say stuff like "Them highfalutin people with more degrees than a thermometer..."blah blah blah. I'm so glad I escaped rural Texas.

The flood maps should certainly be updated and stop giving waivers. State and local officials also are responsible. They should have installed some type of flood warning system after the flood in 1987.

Kerr County should have used some of the $10 million from the Biden administration to install a flood warning system. I hope the residents hold local officials accountable.

My far-right parents are baffled that I became a progressive. I don't speak to them anymore, but if I did I'd tell them it's their fault. I paid attention in Sunday school and the words of Jesus.

Growing up in rural Texas, the fundamental baptists who raised me used the n word as a loophole to swear. I vividly remember when I realized that word was unacceptable.
