On the same day that the technocratic committee was announced, Israel detained and held the new chairman, Ali Shaath, at Allenby Crossing in the West Bank for over six hours before finally releasing him and allowing him to go to Jordan and then Egypt
US government announces the establishment of "phase two" in its colonial administration of occupied Gaza, with the pretense of the Palestinian technocratic committee. Interestingly Hamas and Fatah have announced they both support the committee and Hamas has prepared to hand over civil functions.

Last year's arrest of Mahmoud Khalil was more than just a chilling act of political repression, it was an attack on all of our constitutional rights. Now, as the crackdown on pro-Palestinian free speech continues, Mahmoud is being threatened with rearrest. Mahmoud is free—and must remain free.
