The sego lily was #utpol before hashtags were a thing. #Utah #suffragettes used it to build bridges when the women's purity movement had polygamy in their sights. 130 years later #saltlakecity says it can be a symbol to build new bridges. #womenshistory #lgbtq+ www.kuer.org/politics-gov...
The sego lily, Utah’s state flower, has a long history of political symbolism
Today, the sego lily is prominent in Salt Lake City’s efforts towards a sense of belonging and acceptance for its diverse residents. But 150 years ago, it was Latter-day Saints fighting for acceptance...

Here's one way to visualize what it means to be in the top 3% nationally for wildfire risk.

Each dot represents a U.S. county. Washington County, home to St. George, is one of the red dots in the top right corner.

New Netflix show #AmericanPrimeval is set in 1857 Utah and opens with a brutal mass killing carried out by Mormon militiamen.

It’s based on a real event: the Mountain Meadows Massacre.

For 150 years, site markers didn’t name who committed Utah’s Mountain Meadows Massacre
In 1857, more than 100 Arkansas emigrants were killed in present-day southern Utah. The evolution of the site’s historical markers reflects The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ eventual re...

My husband announced today that he has enough clothes to the last the rest of his life. Sometimes you see elderly people in a dated wardrobe, but did you imagine there was an exact moment when they committed to the path?

So how's @kuer.org doing with this experiment?

Through Dec. 9, the bird place and BSKY are neck in neck driving sessions + users. However, our posts on BSKY are half the volume w/ a fraction of users. On-platform engagement here is leaps and bounds better too.

Threads is about 1/4 of the impact.

In a divisive year, Salt Lake City’s Nativity in the Glen can still bring us together
After Black Friday and Cyber Monday, it was tranquil the Tuesday after at the Nativity in the Glen — even though people still had to beat the crowds.

The right-leaning Supreme Court puts the odds in the railway project’s favor. But an even bigger question is how this case could impact the environmental review process going forward.
What to know as the Supreme Court hears arguments over the Uinta Basin Railway
The case is about more than Utah’s long-fought oil train project. It’s become a test case, with many interested parties, over the future of environmental review.

14 books have already been pulled from all of Utah's K-12 public schools under a new law. But those aren't the only titles that were reported to the State Board of Education.

I requested the full list of reported books and here's what I found.

With Utah’s statewide book bans, 2 school districts have steered the conversation
According to a KUER analysis of public records, 25 books are teetering on the edge of being banned statewide.
