Would it be alright to ask what the short is called?

The economy is ultimately a measure of utility, and people tend to be more productive when they have the assurance that they won't go into debt from their healthcare or housing. This is apparently crazy talk to most governments.

Oh ok, sorry for the confusion! And yeah, I'm not looking forward to more predictable memes of people comparing the game to Forspoken because of one companion character.

But in your original post you said if a game is pissing off gamers, it will be middling and nothing to write home about.

Did you mean to say the more a game ISN'T pissing off gamers?

That's a good point, and one of the benefits compared to a gaming PC is that developers will optimize their games for the Steam Machine specifically, so most games will be guaranteed to run on it without having to mess around with configurations.

Unfortunately a lot of the early reviews released today seem to be implying it's going to be priced more in the gaming PC range... for something you can't really upgrade. The Steam Machine might just be cursed at this point.

As in the amount of VRchat users will explode, or that the hardware itself is lacking for use in VRchat?

Doesn't seem to have external color cameras though, so I'm not sure if you'll be able to do AR like the Quest 3 or Apple Vision.

Imagine a Minecraft Factions PvP server but playtime is separated into rounds.

I think the difficulty of living off art always comes down to the age old dismissal of art from a utilitarian perspective. The powers on high say unless you're making propaganda, there's 50 other things that provide more "utility" than art. (Doctors, engineers, stealing from other countries, etc.)

Not even joking when I say we need to frame the switch to Linux like civil rights activism. No, it's not going to be a cakewalk, but the only thing necessary for the triumph of Big Tech is for good people to do nothing.

The thing about KOSA that irks me the most is that I agree with the larger idea of "duty of care", but not in the way that laws like KOSA talk about. Operating systems and web platforms should give parents the tools to curate their child's experience, not have the government decide it for everyone.

It's interesting that, at the same time, governments are trying to really push online ID verification to prove your age. If I were a cynic, I'd say this is more about cataloging the sexual interests and identities of private individuals.
