"Bathroom" is a loaded term. Obviously we don't gender the bathrooms in our homes, and the idea of gendering a place to piss and shit is inherently ridiculous to me, but bathrooms outside of the home can extend social spaces or provide sanctuary. Free the bathroom, move those functions elsewhere.

I'm pretty sure that my parent's generation (50-60 years old) use this as a reactionary response when they are annoyed at people failing to comply with hegemonic social norms. ("Grow up! that's just how it works!")

Good idea, just note that the current version of Bluesky does not support E2EE (end to end encryption) so DMs are not necessarily private.

Just about the only one I know of is Nebula, which is also very centralized. A decentralized YouTube replacement would be awesome, but video is a LOT more resource intensive than just text (and harder to moderate), so it will be hard to replicate without Google's pockets, but possible.
