Having a child with #send is such a learning curve. We want to understand. We want to help but our ability to do this is complicated by #misinformation and #disinformation often from professionals. Every aspect is just #mindblowing. #mothering #autism #dyscluded

This puppy seemed to be a magic fix. She is training to be an #assistancedog and ever since she arrived things started to improve. My son never managed a full week at school until she joined our family. I now can’t remember the last time I was called in. #send #mothering #autism #dysclused

A dominant feature in all of the stories my participants contributed to my research about their experience mothering autistic children was the uphill struggle these women faced as they fought and battled to secure support for their children. #mothering #autism #send #dyscluded #unpaidcarers #phd

Back to my collage…the plaster reflects that I felt I couldn’t make things better. That was really difficult to deal with. I don’t mean in terms of curing them but everything…I didn’t want them to face the challenges they did. #mothering #autism #send #unpaidcarer #dyscluded #phd

My collages were created for analysis of the stories i collected but also to make my research accessible. They are for the viewer to interpret but an explainer - “My World” is upside down because my world was turned upside down and my children are my world. #mothering #unpaidcarers #autism #phd
