I’ve wanted a room to display liquor and classy decor but real estate is at a premium so I took to the stairwell. I think it’s a decent use of otherwise under utilized space. I love the Bioshock aesthetic so had to add a submarine kind of wall light into the mix.

These extraordinary photos of the LA fires have been shared widely on social media, often without crediting the photographer.

These are all the work of Ethan Swope, an LA-based photojournalist working for AP.

I don’t mind the idea of electric cars—in fact most are pretty cool—but I do worry about the day when Apple bricks people’s iCars by ceasing support of software updates 5 years after purchase.

Seems like 2025 is going to be the year social networks try to clean up bots and realize they have no idea what/who is real.

My garage isn’t heated and it’s been in the -20s lately so I’ll post some old project photos that haven’t made their way to Bluesky. Hopefully this can be a place to connect with hobbyists until the next billionaire takes over.

Below: A pot rack I made out of pieces of an old trampoline. #DIY

I went in to CDN Tire today for wiper blades, which is the only time I seem to need to look parts up in their little tablet catalogue. An employee showed me how once you find the part, you can hit a button and the one you’re looking for lights up on the shelf. Pretty slick!

Played some Doki Doki Literature Club this afternoon (I know, the game’s 8 years old) and had to go for a walk after the first go-round… What a triumph in emotional sabotage. No spoilers pls, I’m planning to finish it… maybe. #gaming #PS4

Been a slow year for homemade Christmas gifts but I did make these quick little shelves for holding a few records or photos etc.

I wanted to put this together on stilts and then fill the bottom, but dad convinced me to stack the levels to make it more solid. That was definitely accomplished, but because the sidewalk is the shape of a mild corkscrew, everything about this was super challenging.

Made some horseradish that I found growing in the back alley. It is insanely potent but delicious mixed with roasted vegetables.

My first foray into metalwork… lubricant seems to be the key. Was surprised to discover the trampoline tubes were steel, so was a little nervous about this but it was easy with the proper oil and HSS bits.

Really happy with how my box joints turned out this time around. Finally figured out the dado/jig setup and it’s paid dividends.

So satisfying to polish these old trampoline posts. Was surprised to discover they are not aluminum, but steel, which made this project a bit more challenging… But that will make everything that much stronger!

Made a simple desk using material I had laying around the garage—2x4s, ceramic tile, bars from a found headboard.

I thought The Flash was great! Super funny movie and the Batman action scenes were better than those in some of the Batman movies.

I eat kiwis without peeling them. Apparently that’s weird? (Note I do not eat the ends.)

The key to project management seems to be the continuous offer of assistance and support without actually delivering any.
