Why does the Democratic party intentionally hinder more progressive voices like Bernie or AoC, despite their rapidly increasing popularity among Americans?

In order to defeat Trump, we need an equally influential figure, but whenever they try to rise, they are shut down for being too left.

I appreciate your stance and am glad you are speaking against trump, but PLEASE, both you and other Democratic reps have got to be more active in taking a stand.
