Because I was in the British Museum yesterday, I popped to see The Black Obelisk of Shalmanezer the Third. Partly because I've heard Dan McClellan explain its significance to biblical scholarship on his podcast. But mainly because it has a really cool name. Like something out of Ghostbusters.

I am familiar with the shenanigans in the run up to the 2019 general election. But I still find it remarkable that the UK's principle progressive politics magazine felt that it could not entertain the opinion that the Labour leader might be preferable to the Tory leader.

Sure, encourage people to run along a busy London street as quickly as possible, why not.

Someone attached an ornate lamp to a tall tree stump in Tooting Commons a year or two ago. I pass it a few times a week on my walks and runs, and always enjoy seeing it.

In a similar vein, was just reading this piece in Private Eye:
