This little barn swallow paused long enough for me to appreciate the gorgeous blue that you can rarely make out as they zoom past you chasing their next meal.

Fort Rodd Hood is one of the 19th C artillery emplacements built to defend the naval base at Esquimalt.
In the spring they close several of the buildings to allow the local population of barn swallows to nest and raise their young.
