Agreed. As a Canucks fan it's still odd hearing his name and OEL's on Leafs broadcasts, but it's comforting, too. You trust them with their assignments.

eventually... a resignation doesn't automatically trigger an election, and the party in power installs a new leader as PM once selected (see Paul Martin, Kim Campbell for recent examples - one was re-elected, the other was not)
