I'm still trying to figure out what this upcoming vote will actually accomplish. For example, does the Senate also have to vote on it? Is it legally binding on the Justice Department? I hope we're not wasting effort.

GOP wins include relatively lean spending levels, extending the CR through Jan. 30, blocking health care subsidies most of them have spent their careers hating. But they own the consequences heading into an election year and have plenty of reason to worry their trifecta is in trouble.

What happens next? Assuming that the House votes in favor, does the Senate then have to vote? Or can the House release the files unilaterally?
