The old guard needs to go.
To be fair it's like going into a boxing ring wearing regulation gloves having learnt the rules. Then seeing your opponent get in wearing full body armour & carrying a machete.
It's no good appealing to the referee who was appointed by your opponent.
You have to play dirty

My guess is he's tried it & found the exact opposite (being quickly beaten by 12yr olds is tough), but his inherent insecurity can't allow him to admit this, so he dismisses the whole thing

I guess (me included) it's a nostalgia thing, where the BBC has ideologically represented a bastion of impartiality. Yes it's always been impartiality based on a hierarchical structure of society with royalty at the very top. The rot set in with Cameron who absolutely used it for political ends

I don't see why the rules of capitalist private companies can't be applied in these cases. Basically if the company goes bankrupt then in terms of the shareholders it's essentially worthless. The water industry has effectively been bankrupt since it was privatised

Ironically with Musk it shows deep insecurity. Like when he got found out employing someone else to game for him just to get a big score on popular games. He has to project the "alpha" image, ditto with Trump claiming expertise on everything. It'd be so laughably sad if it wasn't so destructive

Indeed 2012, it started when Cameron/Osbourne decided to populate the BBC management with overt conservatives, which was then turbo charged by Johnson employing the likes of Gibb, one of May's ex ministers.

Exactly that - it's Trump's whole MO, even long before politics.
He'd regularly stiff contractors & not pay them, knowing that they couldn't afford court fees or couldn't run the risk of losing everything if it went against them.

Exactly, they & their followers apply ultra high & basically unachievable standards to any group who criticises what they do. While totally ignoring anyone on their side.
How often has Trump criticised Fox News for the innumerable things it's got wrong about his opponents

Unfortunately cultism is based on psychology where a 'charismatic' leader uses populism to promise their followers everything they desire. Which is invariably allied to identifying a group of "others" that they need to get rid of in order to achieve that. All autocrats have followed the same formula
