Effective context management unlocking the next wave of efficiency with agents. I've talked to many organizations where their journey starts off strong and then they start to suffer from "context rot" and their effectiveness starts to trend downwards.

This report recognizes 100 technology leaders shaping the future of our industry, through community nominations. I've had the pleasure of speaking at one of their flagship events, and was instantly bought into the quality and efficiency of the organization as a whole. 👏

I’m truly honoured to be included and featured in the #CTOCraft 100 alongside so many inspiring technology leaders. A special thank you to the #CTOCraft community for the recognition, and for creating a space where leaders can learn, share, and grow together. 🙌

Great all the AI vendors are sharing their market data around AI effectiveness. At events, it feels all the CTOs are trying to compare notes and tooling and baselining their efficiency with each other. Reports like this aren't necessarily complete, but really help the conversation.

Last night I was involved in a very insightful panel hosted by Marcia Dunbar and team over at the Onyx Initiative.

We had a deep conversation around how #AI is affecting the job market, our work habits, and what employers are looking for in the next generation of workforce.

We've been exploring the VSCode AI statistics feature (code.visualstudio.com/updates/v1_1...) recently. Wondering where this number will land over a long period of time and over all the different approaches (refactoring, test generation, prototyping, etc) a healthy codebase needs.

Great image showing show the progression of AI agents within engineering teams. I find that our practices are all over this chart, so it could benefit from an y-axis with engineering task complexity. Still, really liking how this progression is articulated.

Had a blast speaking on building a successful business in Canada at Founders Connect in Toronto.

My three takeaways:
- Know your market so well it feels like a co-founder.
- Iteration speed wins — ship, learn, and improve fast.
- Use Canada’s advantages — especially SR&ED

There’s something special about building a company in Canada. 🇨🇦

This week at Founders Connect Connect in Toronto, I’ll be sharing what it’s taken to build here: what’s worked, what’s surprised me, and why I believe this is one of the most exciting times to start something meaningful.

Have #AI experiences won the right to have the first the interaction purely due to a guaranteed sense of safety/support regardless of the question? 🤔

Toronto Tech Week was a whirlwind — a much-needed hard reboot for the city’s tech scene. It was energizing to see so many notable people come out to fuel the buzz, support one another, and embrace this exciting wave of technological change.

Had an incredible time at Google #Gemini Day for Startups in Toronto! The energy was electric!

Demoing and collaborating on ideas around tracewright.com, our open-source regression test automation agent, was icing on the cake. 🤩

Sometimes when filling out a form it decides to fill out one field at a time, reads the form errors, then continues.

Prompt:
- Switch to the "Test Company" Corporation
- Create a new Share Class with only the name "Voting Common", prefix of "VC". Leave the other fields blank

For some more difficult UX patterns there is a error feedback loop to help the LLM triangulate the next step in the approach. This is Shopify's logo generator.

Prompt: Design a brand logo for "Watermelon Inc.". Stop on the screen that sends an email.

Depending on the website, we can throw some pretty high level use cases and leave it to navigate on its own. Here is an example of it navigating the Canada Business website.

Prompt: Create a sole proprietorship business in called "Mantle" in Ontario, Canada.

Wanted to share some tooling that we're rolling out at
@withmantle.bsky.social . The idea is to help us maintain regression/integration tests by using an LLM to navigate a website and generating @playwright.dev code & screenshots along the way.

These #AI abilities are getting scarily good but there is always something that brings the experience back down to earth.

I don't think I would go through the trouble of putting pumpkins on a roof. 😅

NEXT Canada’s speed mentoring sessions is a great way to get acquainted with the next wave of innovation that’s happening here in Canada.

It’s a ton of intros and information thrown at you in a short amount of time but you always leave wanting to do more. 🤩

I feel like I take for granted all the work that has gone into loading spinners in user interfaces. When you encounter one that perfectly compliments the task you're doing, it's very satisfying.
