You in Europe have more generous time off perks. There are people in the US who hold down 3 jobs w/0 paid days off. At least 25% of americans live paycheck to paycheck. Which means they can't afford to take a day off to protest, no matter how important it is. But yes, we are also a complacent bunch.

My mom voted for trump in 2016. Her kids have never let her forget it (she didn't vote for him in 2020 or 2024). She was gullible & believed his whole "I'm a great business man" shtick & thought he'd be able to lead the country. Obvi she didn't do her homework and learn about all his bankruptcies.

I think the reason "no one is doing anything about it" is because every avenue of recourse has been corrupted by this administration. Even if you are successful in the lower courts, the Supreme Court always seems to overturn things in favor of trump.

I wasn't happy that the dems' caved, but at least now, everyone (including MAGA) will get a big reality check regarding ACA premiums, Medicaid, and other benefits.

I broke my tibia and fibula a couple years ago. I had insurance and it cost me about $1K out of pocket. If I hadn't had insurance, it would have cost about $104K.

Not all states can afford to. Rich states (that send more money to the Fed Govt than get back) like CA and NY, would probably be able to make it happen, but poorer states (which receive more money from Fed Govt than what they send) like MS and AL, don't have the tax base to do that.

B/C it is better than nothing (which is what people had before) and B/C while the GOP have been gunning for the ACA for years, they still have yet to offer up a plan for a replacement to it (or even just a plan to make the ACA better). I mean, if the GOP could offer up a better plan, then great.
