Beautiful scenery but bike climbing 18 miles with 4,300 feet of elevation is no joke. Left me wondering if I have enough in the tank and the right equipment to do it. Only one way to find out.

Final upgrade for my 11 year old road bike: Mavic Ksyrium wheel set, MTB shifters on drop bars, Shimano triple front crank set, 9-speed cassette. Got some hills to climb this year.

Went hard early: gym, research on a writing project. Then, slow-walked the rest of the day. Talked with family. Read The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead. Biked. Now, slow cooking dinner. Took a friend's advice and avoided the anxiety of never relaxing or never getting stuff done.

Even in these end times for democracy, I found three things to be grateful for today.
1. This morning's ultrasound showed no signs of aortic vascular stenosis.
2. At age 74, I'm on pace to bike ride 100+ miles this week.
3. An unexpected visit from my furry neighbors.
