Oh, and surprise. Trump lied when asked whether Bondi told him his name was in there.

Why would you lie if you weren't covering something up?

I don’t think Liz Cheney etc have committed any acts that need pardoning; if Biden issues pardons preemptively I think Trump will seize on it as an admission of guilt, vindication of further future abuses.

My faith is the justice system isn’t absolute; we need to uphold and sustain it.

Sentencing is up to the judge, and is currently scheduled to be in a week or so (well before the next term).
Can’t say if prison will be included or not (tho don’t think it should); but that should be left to the judge/court, IMO.
Joe should honor his pledge not to interfere.

Trump’s other indictments are much more serious, stronger direct evidence & application of law.
imo WERE they to go to/thru trial I would expect a guilty verdict and serious penalties, including some form of prison.
He wouldn’t be a 1st time criminal offender after the NY case.

I don’t think the crimes Trump has been convicted of (given they’re nonviolent, a 1st time offender) warrant prison (same as Hunter), but I do think he should be sentenced, even if delayed until after his term.

The point is he’s been convicted of a crime, plead guilty, regardless of how many people may commit it daily (curious what your source is on millions/day).
If your principles include that no one should be above the law, and a president should honor his word, interceding now is against them.

There’s still the Geneva Convention, even during war.
I dunno, in those militaristic terms I guess I’m not sure what the strategic victory of pardoning Hunter would be- give up our principles… for what advantage exactly?

The sentencing is up to the judge and is scheduled for December (before Trump takes office).
Expected sentence would be probation given the charges and first time offender status, but ultimately up to the judge/court.

Sometimes putting your child first means letting them accept the consequences of their actions, especially if they’re a middle-aged adult.
My hypothetical adult child’s hypothetical stepdad, Neil, agrees (he’s a real mensch, my hypothetical ex-wife Judy hit the jackpot when she found Neil).

I think upholding the rule of law, particularly when it is under assault, supersedes individual concerns of reputation; would hope my hypothetical child, who committed and plead guilty to the crimes in question, would agree.

It would have to be the one who committed, pled guilty to the crimes for which the sentencing would occur, no?
