Anyway, nothing reeks more of desperation than someone who is fine taking pot-shots at an out of context paragraph so they could dunk on CARL SAGAN and then visibly refuse to entertain that they shot their bolt by not reading it IN context.

Nah man, I've just spent I dunno, 20 years debating creationists, so I am entirely used to Carl Sagan being quote mined, and so I knew immediately that he was being taken out of context (seeing the religious freak out) and so I shut it down.

Speaking of which, this guy just blocked me because despite me showing him Sagan's full speech, he refused to read it, doubled down on his position, and thus fulfilled Sagan's observation.

I think Sagan understood religion pretty well. I don't think he much cares about whether or not some of the trivialities you are concerned with are important since they are not since that's not what his speech was about.

Sagan is part of their grand list of targets from Darwin to Gould who were constantly attacked like this, and I guess It's refreshing to see some of the loonies have filtered into Bluesky.
