Wasn’t the French Revolution a bourgeois revolution? The guillotine wasn’t a tool AGAINST the bourgeoise; it was a tool OF them, the emerging capitalist class, allied with the peasantry against the aristocratic class. But as a symbol, it’s fraud with issues of colonial violence too, I believe.
