I was "lucky" to get a 3090 during the mining era so I'm still ok there. I've concluded that smaller more logical and incremental updates are just too hard with so much uncertainty. I also got a 9950x3d which should last me as long as my 8700k has.

I just paid $1k for a decent 128gb kit and I feel lucky. The same kit was $1300 before it went out of stock the next day. I never expected ram to be by far the most expensive piece of upgrading. Isn't this a great hobby?

I don't think I've experienced this before. It's probably because I've spent a lot of time around old and sick horses but I like to think about the time we do have. Every new animal relationship is a new adventure and everything exists for a finite time. I'm always excited to explore that adventure.
