ok that’s it i crossposted this from twitter bc i want ppl to give me their thoughts

also i jst want to say this isn’t a prediction on what i think will 100% happen this is more of a what-if scenario.

i could be completely wrong and that’s fine but i just needed to get this out or i’d go insane.

this line is also very curious under my theory, because it’d make sense if sans knows this world will be destroyed because he’s seen it happen before in deltarune first hand.

he doesn’t want to lose it all again and have this world forever destroyed.
July 31, 2025 at 11:05 PM
that’s why i think sans says “i know your type” when describing the player’s completionist instincts.

he’s talking about gaster, a morbidly curious scientist experimenting with worlds because he think he can derive a new outcome from it.
July 31, 2025 at 11:05 PM
now i’m not sure what sans is gonna be doing in the future chapters but whatever it is i think he’ll get to know gaster and by extension the nature of the player and their morbid curiosity
July 31, 2025 at 11:05 PM
now this is a bit of a shot in the dark but i think the two ppl trying to fix the machine are gaster and the player and the “machine” is the DEVICE layer gaster uses to connect to the player.

it might even be the same one we see in sans’ lab

it makes me wonder, if what i’m saying is right and we’re heading towards reaching the ‘absolute’ of deltarune i think we will reach the same fate. the world will be destroyed irreparably, it also makes me think about this tweet
July 31, 2025 at 11:05 PM
and once you’ve done everything, the world is destroyed, because there’s no point in keeping it around anymore when every possibility has been explored.

you can still replay the game of course but that experience is just left hollow and in the words of andrew cunningham:
July 31, 2025 at 11:05 PM
and if you choose not to listen? if you reset and try to 100% the game? you’re punished. because you’re destroying your investment to this world and it’s characters because of curiosity, bc you decided a happy ending wasn’t enough. nothings enough until you reach the “absolute”
July 31, 2025 at 11:05 PM
this is opposite to undertale, once you’ve completed pacifist the game wants you to stop playing and be satisfied with what you’ve done, even if you haven’t seen everything you could, even if you can’t meet your friends again on the surface
July 31, 2025 at 11:05 PM
then i realised that’s why we have 3 save slots.

gaster literally says “PREPARATIONS ARE COMPLETE” when overwriting the ur file to all 3 save slots. he’s planning for you to replay them. to find every secret in order to create the “new future” he so desperately wants.
July 31, 2025 at 11:05 PM
what’s also interesting is that like 60% of deltarune’s lore heavy scenes are completely optional and that always left me wondering how can someone who’s not found any secret have the same experience as someone who’s found every secret.
July 31, 2025 at 11:05 PM
this is bc deltarune seems to encourage players testing the limits of what they can find in the game. (secret bosses, eggs, sweepstakes, noelle’s blogs abt finding secrets in dragon blazers, datamining secrets etc.)
July 31, 2025 at 11:05 PM
maybe he’ll tell the player to forge a different path to achieve a different ending (weird route) but when that also ends the same gaster will tell the player to do an aborted weird route??

maybe not exactly this but i feel gaster would encourage the player to find secrets.
July 31, 2025 at 11:05 PM
but i’m sure gaster, a scientist who’s interested in “creating a new future” will probably want to explore all the possibilities.

maybe the normal ending is unsatisfying, and gaster js left wondering why things turned out this way, why the ending is unchanged
July 31, 2025 at 11:05 PM
the main gist of my “””theory””” is that maybe you need to do both the weird route and the normal route
(and maybe an aborted weird route?) to achieve a true ending.

my reasoning is that UT pacifist ending ends with flowey asking you to let go and leave the world as it is.
