Totally feel you :) Found this guy (only new to me) in a park in Popayán yesterday, great cloud breaker!

Nature is so amazing.

Yesterday I made two images of two Neoponera (in San Cipriano, Colombia). Only noticed when editing the images that one of them was in fact a spider (Castianeirinae, Corinnidae) :P

I think first time a spider fooled me that well in a long time :)

just added Eupelmidae vs Encyrtidae to #DuoNat :)

and while doing so realized that I have almost all bees and ants for Hymenoptera, need to change that asap!

150 hymenoptera pairs and only one is Chalcidoidea it's embarassing ;)

If you have any suggestions what other owls you'd like to see on #DuoNat, drop me a note :)

duo-nat.web.app?pairId=2665&...

Currently we have only five or so. So much more to discover :D

This pair is actually really hard (3 chilies)! How to distinguish them without cheating?

I'm currently developing #DuoNat, and I'm not using cc-by-nc for now, because I might have to charge for it to cover the costs (hope not though)… I need at least 8 good-enough-quality per taxon. not there yet for A. quinquenotata :P

Have you ever seen an #owlfly? :)

duo-nat.web.app?pairId=606&l...

They are are related to #antlions and #lacewings, and superficially resemble #dragonflies!

God may have an inordinate fondness for beetles; I have one for #flies :D

@alexwild.bsky.social you once said if not ants, you should have done #diptera. I feel you!

#DuoNat has 150 pairs of diptera so far: duo-nat.web.app?level=all&ph...

Dance flies!! :DD

the top image (awesome shot by #iNaturalist's @kueda.sfba.social.ap.brid.gy ) shows them carrying a nuptial gift.

ONE OBSERVATION on #iNaturalist for the #Micropezidae species Badisis ambulans!!

the larvae develop in pitcher plants, and they imitate #ants quite well.

you can tell the similar-looking Diopsidae apart from them because they also have the antenna at the ends of the stalks.

How cool are beetle flies :D

duo-nat.web.app?pairId=3808&...

TIL that they're related to Lauxaniidae, which I always confuse with Drosophilidae.

I love the "ancestry" button (top next to the chili) for this!
