Members of the Cowley group participated in a @alzheimersresearchuk.org public engagement event in central Oxford recently!

Visitors (young and old) explored human brain cells grown in the lab and learnt about microglia and their potential role in neuroinflammation and Alzheimer’s disease.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr Eric Sidebottom, a cherished member of the Dunn School community, who died peacefully at home with his family on Saturday the 7th of June 2025.

This major honour confirms what we already know: Tanmay is a 🌟

His structural work on the prokaryotic S layer is ground-breaking

Here are some photos of what it looked like before large companies in the UK and in the US got involved. The ingenuity of our researchers is evident: rationing during war time meant that milk churns and baths had to play their role in penicillin extraction!
