I think this is a pretty good example of how 60s - 90s designers drew futuristic designs. They're sleek, neon and easy to draw.

As "Ultimate Wildmutt" the alien's body has become a semi-liquid metal with dense needles, along with becoming larger and more built for tunneling. The golden metal is poisonous, and can be shot into areas as a tracking point for the beast to follow due to it's loss of hearing.
