I’m writing my PhD about atmosphere of contemporary Japanese worship services 😊. I work with qualitative data from several field trips.
I was part of the DFG-research project “Transformation of Sacredness” about the shifting religious landscape and architecture of mosques, synagogues, and churches in Germany. We also created a database of new, repurposed, reused, abandoned religious spaces in GER (sawa.ceres.rub.de/de/datenbank...)

Aside from my PhD research, I’ve also delved into research about place making of religious communities in Germany, and religion in popular culture (angels in manga; religion in video games).

As a final year PhD student I wonder how long that final year actually is with all the writing, corrections, and making sure that it’s a coherent thesis 🫣
