Dad. Spouse.
Guitar, bass, drums, vocals, half-forward flank, conspicuous production, the worker’s control of the means of consumption.
Lapsed economist. Devout atheist.
I was 10 when Nixon resigned, 11 when the Vietnam War ended and Gough was sacked (I’m Australian). We watched and listened to nothing but the ABC. I saw it all. None of that affected me as much as my mother’s righteous Tory morality or, later, the Sex Pistols. Well may you say God save the Queen…

The 2 examples were, for me and deploying the Australian vernacular, piss easy. I was personally blessed to find an absence of references to the Periodic Table. That would have been my undoing.

I’m guessing I handled the 1st with the benefit of a decade in policy design. The 2nd was just basic.

Australia’s labour movement is worth a bonus ep if only for the narrative arc of innovation (ok, racism too) to marginalisation. Plus how our US alliance, a drunken Russian diplomat and tariff wall complacency kept the Tories in power for 23 years and deferred the 60s (for us) until the 70s.2/2

I haven’t listened to Che or this one yet but it’s been a terrific way to learn (80%) and revisit (20%) a, I dunno, subject? topic? lifestyle choice? creed? backbone of my values? 1/2

I was waiting for that advice. I like its security and integration elements but I’m no expert. I think the ND’s advertising configuration is the real problem. Maybe I need a pop-up blocker but I want to support the ND’s business model (if only because it annoys the Tories).

Great article but I couldn’t read it on my Laptop. Indeed, all ND articles disappear after loading on it (no problem on my phone). It’s a Windows 11/Chrome combination. I know you’re not IT Support but it defeats the purpose of a subscription as I’ll cease using the emails as my access point.

As a Richmond supporter, I can assure you of their propensity for risibility (is that a word?)

Does the Guardian now have a WTF section between Culture and Lifestyle?

The “Russia Russia Russia” bit makes me think he had a different type of spray on his mind.

Meanwhile, it’s worth noting the resemblance between Trump saying “Russia Russia Russia” and Jan Brady saying “Marcia Marcia Marcia”. In the words of Sam Seaborne, it’s called cadence.

DOGE must have sacked the gong roadie.

I’ll take that but I’d want TISM doing Mistah Eliot,He Wanker: that’s what comes from hangin’ around with the likes of Ezra Pound.
I’ve always fancied a Nick Cave and the Aussie Bad Seeds doing Deanna, There She Goes My Beautiful World and Release the Bats. Recall Harvey, M, Calvert, P and Casey, M

TISM lost their way after Machiavelli.. The Cosmic Psychos, however, would be great. On a personal level, I went to the same school as Ron Hitler Barassi while my nephews went to the same school as Snoop Dogg. Separated by the Pacific.

Ok, so this is just talkin’ ‘bout my algorithm…

Mate, you hit the bullseye with that. Anyone who can describe the feeling of being 15 years old to someone who is 61 deserves a knighthood.

I’m a subscriber to the theory of a standalone single closely followed by an album. If a song on the album beckons single status, so be it. B sides can procured any which way. 1966, essentially…

The deeper the 80s, the worse the culture, unless it was alternative or Prince. Having said that, mainstream culture has always been awful. I’ve recently indulged in YouTubing 70s TOTP episodes and it’s largely awful, notwithstanding glimpses of genius (and I count Pilot as genius).

Origin Story on Tax Avoidance?

But 90% of people have mainstream taste, regardless of their generation. And about 40% of mainstream culture is vile. But about 10% of it is genius. Regardless of generation.

Yep.
Friends, Sex In The City, Spice Girls, Baywatch, Kenny G, poodle metal are all Trump pointers.

During the debate (I’m being polite) around the VFL’S proposal to merge Fitzroy and Footscray in 1989, a bumper sticker did the rounds saying “Merge Oakley Into Outer Space”. It never struck me as a practical suggestion until now.

* Ross Oakley, then-CEO of the VFL.

The Urkel faction would end up accusing her of adopting Webster’s education policy.

At least it’s only one quarter. Richmond forgot to set the alarm clock this morning. Also, Brisbane in Brisbane is a tough task.
