My fav Christmas. 1991, 150m SE of Montevideo, 2nd mate Eye of the Wind.
I’d bought every member of the crew a small gift at Stanley, wrote a limerick for each & wrapped each one.
Christmas morning, I came down from the top yards to deliver, elves organised the mould wine and we sang🍷 Special day 😊

Indeed. Harrowing night. My dad was Coastguard at Lands End, Tol-Pedn-Penwith, and knew the crew. Incredible selfless bravery.

Film - Local Hero. It never left me, stands the test of time. Beautiful film

Book - The Eighth Passenger. Stunning story of a Lancaster bomber crew, coping with the 8th passenger, which was fear.

Record - Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds. Burton, Lynott, Essex, Covington. Masterful storytelling
