Frank's comments after the game are symptomatic of his whole outlook, as if going away from home to a decent (but not great) team and grinding out a lucky draw is something we should be happy with. Not a lot of 'audere' ...

Difficult to do, but if Romero plays on the left this might be a team with ... zero players who have good established playing relationships with the players next to them. Passing may be a challenge.

You can see how frustrated the players are becoming: they were coached to believe in themselves to do great things for two years, and now they are being coached to play on the back foot, always reacting rather than asserting themselves

Yep, I reckon a finish anywhere 5-8 would be 'about right'. We can't demand higher, all things being equal, similarly 9th or worse would be disappointing. There is a lot of quality in this squad, albeit it's uneven. Simply put, the squad isn't functioning as well as it should.

It was great to see the willingness of Gray in particular to get into attacking positions. His engine can be a massive asset for the club

There is a part of me that wonders what the season might have looked like if we went all in on Brandon Austin once Vic went down. At least we could have tried (emphasise 'tried') to keep playing a similar style of football

While the CBs (rightly) get the attention, the defense as a whole is a similar story. Vic, Kinsky, Porro, Spence, Udogie, Romero, VDV, Danso - with minimal games lost due to injury/suspension this season. It's not the quality of the players that is the problem.
