When I was growing up in suburbia, we had That One Neighbor who stood on her porch on Halloween night while we were all trick-or-treating. She would wildly wave her bible around and wail and curse at us, calling us sinners, evildoers, and devil spawn. All the kids loved it. 😆

One of my favorite items of clothing is a Cocteau Twins "Treasure" t-shirt that I received as a Christmas gift. I don't often receive compliments on my wardrobe, but complete strangers will walk up to me just to say they love that shirt and the band.

And then you leave the creepy doll outside in the sun for too long and it melts into the Crispy Gnome.
She stabs at you from under the bushes whenever you come outside to do yardwork. None of the neighborhood animals are safe from her predations.

I loved the Sabriel books! It's been years since I thought about them, but I remember finding the world building really fascinating.
