To be fair Obama only got it as a "congratulations/thanks for replacing Dubya" gift to America. One assumes the guy after Trump will get all the Nobel prizes.

If I recall correctly you might be able to sort that by disabling "Fast Startup" somewhere in the power options control panel. Because if it's never turned off then that counts as a fast startup, right!

I will, otherwise some of your horrible potato curry might fall into it!

Counterpoint: potato doesn't belong in any curry.

Sure they've done better and more stable operating systems since, but they've basically all been variations on a theme started with 95.

Make it adaptive, so you're only allowed to work for like 40% of whatever the current daylight hours are.

Pff, what has open server/client structures ever done for the internet!

Chibi concentration camp guard. On the upside maybe this'll train people to spot that authoritarianism dressed up cute is still authoritarianism.

Every year I hit up the Wildlife Photographer competition at www.nhm.ac.uk/wpy to pick my favourites and add them to a directory to be a rotating background. Have to use some web dev tricks to save the images and convert them from webp, but I'm sure that's within your skillset.

Explore the world's best nature photography. See galleries of images, find out more about the competition and about how to visit this year's exhibition.

It's been true forever. Half the origin stories of British bands involve years of living on the dole while they tried to get their start, and it resulted in Britain swinging wildly above its weight culturally and gave us a very lucrative arts industry.

Wait, you didn't think being in the hospital for heart problems was reason enough to cancel a camping trip?! I'd have gone home and refused to move for a month. Anyway, hope you're feeling better and everything mends fully.

That can't be right, someone from Yorkshire would never mention it.

I've never used the like button on any platform, but I made an exception here.

I mean the American Way to get to the moon was to hire Nazis, so they're ahead of the game already.

This was a reasonably interesting puzzle, so after a bit of trawling interwebs it's not possible on a per-tab basis, but if you go to about:profiles in Firefox and create a new one you can have a second instance running with a VPN extension. Or run two different browsers and do per-app split stuff.

Ah, looks like they started geoblocking this July. That's a shame, the claimed reason is rights management but who knows. Shame because 6 Music is where they shuffle off the radio DJs who actually like music, but fidding around with VPNs is probably not worth it just to test the waters.

I'm old school and listen to the radio, albeit online radio. BBC 6 Music is my general jam of choice, but it's a case of finding a station/DJ/programme that scratches your itch.

The US died in 2016 with Trump 1, it had been sick for a long time but that was the end. Everything after has just been because it takes a while for empires to fall.

I don't even know what "Windows will be more ambient, pervasive, and multi-modal in the wake of AI" actually means.
