Ironing out the wrinkles since 2025.
A sycophant is a person who acts obsequiously toward someone important in order to gain advantage.

A wellophant is what your six-year-old nephew calls a pachyderm.

Atwater Village in Los Angeles, California was named after its proximity to the LA River. It is approximately 17 miles from the Pacific Ocean.

This perpetuates my theory that no one verifies comparatives. Never have. Never will.

Sir Isaac Newton, the father of gravity, once stabbed himself in the eye to see what would happen.

The word artichoke was adapted from the Italian "articiocco", which allegedly carried over from the old Spanish "alcarchofa", which was born from the Arabic "al-khashuf", which translates roughly to "ground thorn".

It has nothing to do with wanting to choke yourself to death when you swallow one.

A dead body and a live body do not contain the same number of particles because an alive body is constantly breathing particles in and out and consuming them and excreting them.

A dead body just lies there...

Like a bum.

Berlin Brandenburg Airport took 14 years to build and the fire safety system had to be completely designed because it tried to vent smoke from the ceiling through the basement instead of the roof.

Never talk to me about German engineering ever again.

A general outranks a commander.

One could argue that means the General Population outranks the Commander in Chief.

There is no such thing as an alpha wolf, and the man who came up with that theory has spent much of the rest of his life trying to convince people he was wrong.

Yes, I'm shamelessly stealing facts I've heard from @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social now.

The word "lamp" was originally a French word, which comes from the Latin "lampada", which comes from the Greek word "lampas".

Lamp.
Lampada.
Lampas.

There you go.

Now, Google, will you please turn on the f***ing lamp?

Liechtenstein is one of a few countries in Europe that does not have its own standing army. They have agreements with Switzerland and Austria to utilize their militaries if the need arises.

The thing is, Switzerland has accidentally invaded or fired upon Liechtenstein on at least three occasions.

On August 19, 1941 the British RAF air dropped a prosthetic leg into Nazi Germany.

This was with the permission of the Germans, mind you.

Had a busy day, so I'm just going to leave this here.

A male bee dies after coitus with the queen.

It really is the most perfect example of "you only get one shot".

They can't all be good.

Fluoride in the water doesn't make you easier to track by government spy satellites. It really does just prevent tooth decay.

German chocolate cake wasn't invented in Germany or by a German. It was named after its original creator, a British-American man named Samuel German.

Next, you'll tell me French Fries don't come from France.

Oh.

The original "Humpty Dumpty" nursery rhyme made no mention of Humpty being an egg. Lewis Carroll made that part up later.

On the one hand, this illustrates how literature is a collaborative medium into which the reader brings preconception born from experience.

On the other hand, my brain hurts.

The human body needs a steady supply of vitamin D. Benefit include improved bone density, muscle strength, and immune health.

So yes, she needs the D, but so does he.

John Wick did not kill three men with a pencil.

John Wick is a fictional character.

John Wick cannot hurt you.

Keanu Reeves, on the other hand...

Crows can make and use tools and can hold grudges for up to 17 years.

Forget The Crow. I want a revenge action thriller about this.

Vanilla ice cream is not the same as unflavored ice cream, despite what cultural shorthand would suggest.

Let your freak flag fly, you crazy vanilla lovers.

Dreaming that you've died will not cause your body to actually die. If that sort of logic worked, I would be rich and famous and not anonymously sharing idiotic truths on the internet.

Also I would be running from hordes of space zombies. I hate my dreams sometimes.

Men are more likely than women to donate their bodies to science.

Is this because men are more likely to associate "science" with strapping stuff to rockets and shooting it into space? The world may never know, but we can all judgmentally assume.
