May I offer a tip? Your knitting looks good so far you just want to stop using your finger to pull yarn of the needle. You never want to have the point in the pad of your finger.

Beautiful rise, the crumb looks great. I use a heat mat for plants and a cooler to proof. I'll have to try your way when we get a dryer.
