May I offer a tip? Your knitting looks good so far you just want to stop using your finger to pull yarn of the needle. You never want to have the point in the pad of your finger.

Scarpaccio is the best use of a mandolin in my opinion. Also get a cut proof glove because mandolins are evil and want your blood.
