We’re already here - I can / can’t imagine how much worse this is going to get. And if HR9495 passes, I believe this type of organization is at risk. It will be so difficult to get the information these types of watchdog orgs demand

Thinking about how more front doors lead to more orders and more half-a-penny-per-hour jobs to fulfill them
I’ve purchased the same item from multiple AliExpress shops, the physical product is identical. They’re just packaged and presented slightly differently, repeated until it’s unclear where the product even originated from or what the “real” price is. I’ve come to think of all of these ultracheap retailers as front doors leading to the same backend of suppliers and manufacturers, using the same set of lifted images — a Potemkin village of superstores operated across the globe, shrouded in secrecy.

Indians are not immune to in-group oppression, just because we live in the U.S. Switching continents didn’t stop us from bringing all of the culture with us and it’s disingenuous to suggest so

This quote is stunning because 2016 was also the year that Cisco Systems launched an investigation after a U.S.-based employee complained about caste discrimination - it was big news in the Indian community

One of the arguments put forward is that the way caste is taught in schools is inadequate and therefore wrong.
