In Japanese they mispronounce デュカリオン (dyukarion) as デウカリオン (deukarion) and Akira corrects them and tells them 'deukarion' is the name of the bakery, not the heroes. In the next panel they just ask what they do, they don't mess it up again like they do in the english version.

In the chapter that puts Duklyon against 20 Masks, Akira is troubled and tells his mums about the play. In the english version they mispronounce Duklyon as 'duck-lion' and Akira corrects them to 'duke-lee-on' (and then later they say the dude-lemurs line)

The same exchange is repeated again during the school play chapter with the same dialogue for their respective versions.

But in Japanese, Nokoru calls it “aisai bento” (which the dictionary describes as a bento lovingly prepared by a wife lol), Takeshi asks how he saw that, and then Kentarou says something about how he hasn’t got Takeshi in the family register yet, in other words they‘re not married yet.

In the English version Nokoru asks Takeshi how Kentarou’s “bento of devotion” was, Takeshi tells him not to call it that and Kentarou pipes up with “He likes to be pampered but he’ll never admit it” which is very cute, I gotta give them that.

I’m still never getting over this tiny change in the English Duklyon release. Why did they cut that panel off like that and deprive me of seeing his little happy heart? 🥺💔

The same plastic cup as mentioned before with art of a chibi style Kentarou and Takeshi in striped pyjamas brushing their teeth but the colours have been inverted so that the lines are black on a white background and slightly clearer to see.

And up in the top right was a bathroom set, featuring a towel, a little bag and a toothbrush set, all featuring 20 Mensou and Duklyon and I have been DEEPLY unwell over it since and desperate to see a clearer closer image of them bc I’ve never seen these drawings before outside of this

So someone over on Twitter a couple years back posted some photos of pages of an issue of a Newtype Comic Genki magazine from the 90s that they had. Specifically photos of pages to do with CLAMP’s Duklyon and 20 Mensou which both ran in it
