Talk about The Wire, Sopranos, Game of Thrones all you want, but the greatest US television program ever made is Sesame Street. It's not even close. 50+ years of treating kids across class, ethnicity, religion not as mini-consumers...but as citizens with a stake in this world.

I’ve said this before: contracts are legal documents. You can’t just void them by saying so. One of the most foundational functions of government is ensuring contracts are enforceable, and if a government won’t even abide by its own contracts, it’s not a state, it’s a racket.
