Yesterday, five-year-old Liam and his dad Adrian were released from Dilley detention center. I picked them up last night and escorted them back to Minnesota this morning.

Canada’s strength was never being “one thing.” It was relational. Patchwork. Negotiated. The cruelty people are pointing at isn’t overt malice — it’s access cruelty. People inside the system don’t feel it, so they assume it doesn’t exist. That’s how neglect gets normalized.
