They are safe here on the 10 acres. They mostly roost in the trees to the west and behind the solar panels. Deer also are safe here; get a hunter or three every now and then that asks to hunt on the property.

I didn't want them getting near our chicken flock due to bird flu so as they started heading that way I ran across the field flapping my coat jacket out big - they scattered like crazy in all directions, some flying away reaching over 50' to clear the trees to the west. Small planes run on a budget; the margin of power available is just enough to fly with. A muffler would reduce power and add weight - while some planes use them, most don't. Altitude reduces the noise to annoying but not damaging levels. Mostly.
