Linux distro maintainer by day, tech curmudgeon by night (well, all the time). In the process of migrating here from the fediverse, probably.

I'm agender they/he/any, I'm not fussed.
Yes, but it looks like they're going further than that with this announcement. Until they say what the heck it actually means, it's all speculation right now (and the lack of transparency isn't a good look)

Of course it's not a secret that they don't like third party app stores either, and that is absolutely a backhanded part of this. I'm just reserving judgment on how drastic this change is until they reveal how it's implemented.

Sideloading is critical to app dev so my uninformed guess here is that it will come down to flipping a switch in Developer Options to allow unsigned/unverified apps.

I understand the reasoning (there's been a huge uptick in Android malware) but they're not being particularly transparent about this.

The word you are actually looking for is "genocide," by the UN's own definition. So if you're going to say it, say it right.

This video was made well before the election, so it mainly covered state-level actions. Many of those actions are now going national.

aiencode: wraps original data using a natural language word generator

aidecode: shrinks encoded text back to original, slightly lossy

Eh I think the output of uuencode looks prettier. Lossless too 😁

Truvada, for instance, was originally used for ART therapy. It has largely been replaced by Biktarvy, which contains different quantities of the same drugs in Truvada, plus a third one (HAART).

But studies found that Truvada was also effective for prevention in HIV-negative people, creating PrEP 😁

PrEP tries to prevent HIV infection in the first place.

Anti-retroviral therapy (ART/HAART) is used to keep HIV suppressed in the body after infection, to prevent AIDS and further HIV transmission risk.

The drug in this trial is already approved for ART; it's now being tested for PrEP usage too.

Didn't last long. App is visible and installable on Play Store on web and mobile as of this writing.

Anti-vax and anti-"processed food" propagandists have huge overlap.

The point is more about the "unprocessed" adjective (not the word "organic"), which is thrown around a lot by armchair new-agey nutritionists, and has absolutely zero useful meaning in actual nutrition.

We've had similar guides before (they were widespread when I was just a little queerling), we just hadn't felt like we needed them as much into the 00s-10s. Perhaps that needs to change.

I mentioned the OP in a longer-form post on exactly this point over on mastodon here: tech.lgbt/@ToddVierlin...
