Unfortunately, defense aside, I think 2B is the better upgrade. And a righthanded batter as well.

Not disagreeing with your overall premise, but "3rd base" is doing a lot of heavy lifting. I am not sold on Crawford and 60% GB.

We need to find consistently dangerous bats at two of OF, 3B, and/or 2B.

Seems like you need to meet more communists. Finding reactionaries is easy.

I have a slight defense of Dombrowski's lack of aggressiveness at the trade deadline. A team has to have a surplus of something to trade from. Our minor league cupboard was bare. Our biggest names were either too new, too injured, or hitting too many ground balls to be good trade bait.

It needs Nick Castellanos and Thom Brennaman.

Great concert and about 900 degrees.

As much as I want to see him up, the situation with the infield and Bohm, inparticular, means he has to crush from day one. He needs an IL stint, phantom or otherwise, from someone.

I was just reading this article from @castlegrief.bsky.social and I think it touches on our conversation.

They are all open to interpretation and creativity. We can fill that world with whoever we want. Is that fun? Probably. Is that daunting? Possibly.

One question I have not answered, is how much can the character development change game play over time.

I think there is room for a longer campaign, but that I will have to do some work to flesh things out. For myself, it is what is attracting me to it. Here is the tone and the central theme, but who is in this city? What can be found on this dead plain?

Based on my group's comments after our most recent MB game, you are not wrong. They felt pretty strongly that they liked it as a one-shot, but that it lacked depth.

In our case, I put that on myself and our expectations. We are a long time 3.5/5e group and I threw them into MB with little prep.

As for Tephrotic Nightmares and the MB world in general, there is a difference between appreciating a world and wanting to play in it. I love the artwork, theme, and mood of Vaesen, but I am still trying to find my way loving the game. Perhaps, MB has you in a similar boat.

To Luke's point, they may or may not work for my adventure, but I am as likely to toss them all out and create my own entry point as use them. Then again, I am not afraid to toss out pieces of the adventure that I do not think fit the story we are telling.

I did not get the same vibe you did from the article. Yes, it is snarkily written, which I appreciate, but I take it as his POV on including hooks and the snark is meant to dull the edge, not sharpen it. I treat hooks included in an adventure as inspiration.

This man dropped a 'MorningLightMountain' on us while discussing aboleths. Just jamming together two disparate parts of my brain with no warning.
