Trump is a self-inflicted wound.
Perhaps we were far ahead of other nations in the first part of the 20th century.

That is no longer true. The spread of knowledge facilitated by today’s technologies is leveling the playing field.

Our place in the world has slipped.

Reading the news these days is a stomach churning exercise. Between the antics of Trump and the supine rulings of the Supreme Court.

So thank you. Your posts give me, and I suspect many others, some much needed respite from the darker areas of the news

But most importantly, he stood up. Telling the people who would have used him in the coup that he would stand against them.
How does it go? “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing”?

It was interesting to learn about his military career.

And that he wrote a book about the “military racket”. Wasn’t it Eisenhower who warned some years later about “the military industrial complex”?

My pleasure. I read your posts with great interest. The story of Smedley Butler and his role in preventing the coup that never came to pass was engaging on several levels.

It is good to hear that someone else believes as I do that no one can know the future. “The undiscovered country”.
But the current trends are alarming. And the current momentum suggests that things will get worse. At least that is what my mornings browse though the news of the day tells me.

Would that our Country had such a leader as President.
The current incumbent falls woefully short.

Just reading the thread.
Yes! Moorcock! Used to read his books as a student. And had quite the collection, which I lost.
So I recently started looking for them again, and found some through Abe Books.
They are just as enjoyable as when first I read them!

I watched the first episodes of Dr. Who.
Peering out from behind a sofa. They were delightfully scary!
I am still a fan - all these years later.
