America has always been blinded by racism. Despite it being built by different races. The minute you recognize and show others with money different things on main stream media it becomes either popular or randomly controversial because a small group deems it "BAD". I wanna watch anime damn it!

A a lot of anime was considered underground back in the 80's and 90's even though anime started to show here in the late 60's. Hell America "Americanized"/made a cartoon version of sailor moon and it was covered by a woman named Ray Mona. But American Kids back them loved the OG.

American here...it had a lot to do with racisim and executives from bug networks claiming that kids in the u.s. wouldn't understand cultural differences despite our country running on different cultures. Also christian groups making up garbage that anime to some extent is the devil.
