The Heart Nebula, in the Cassiopeia constellation, ~7,500ly from us.

This is my last image of 2024 due to weather and I only got ~13.5Hrs of data in Ha/Oiii only.

Close up of the Veil, on an area commonly called The Bat Nebula (NGC 6995).

I'm starting to use Gemini to generate ALT text and it's both interesting and frustrating. It thought this looked like a Dragon, but the description is what it basically came up with.

Eastern Veil nebula, a small part of a Cygnus Loop, a large (6x the size of the Moon) supernova remnant. This is ~2400ly from us.

Taken from backyard in Bay Area. ~35Hrs of 5 min exposure in Ha/Oiii/Sii.

The Lion Nebula in Cepheus.

This is a region rich in hydrogen with emission nebulae and star clusters. It is slightly bigger in apparent size than the Moon! It is roughly 10,000 lightyear away.

From backyard in the Bay Area. ~40hrs of exposure.

The Shark Nebula in Cepheus.

This region of dust and gas is 650 ly away and spans ~15 ly head to tail. This is very faint. A single 2min image reveals no shape at all.

Taken from my backyard in the Bay Area. ~45 Hrs of 2 min LRGB exposures.

The whirlpool galaxy and its companion dwarf galaxy.

They are ~24M light-years away. Tidal plumes from their interactions can be seen around them.

This was taken from my backyard in the Bay Area with 1,334 images in HaLRGB totaling just under 56Hrs.

The elephant trunk nebula in the Cepheus constellation.

Located ~2,400 light-years from Earth, it is a region of star formation with young stars (<100,000 years old).

Taken from my backyard in the Bay Area, composed of 73 20-minute exposures, totaling ~24Hrs

Messier 13, a globular cluster in the Hercules constellation.
Located ~23,000 light-years from Earth, and is ~145 light-years in diameter. It has between 300K and >500K stars! The Arecibo message was sent toward it in 1974.

The North American Nebula (left on its side) and the Pelican Nebula (right)

These are located ~2,500 lightyears from Earth. The field of view is about the size of 3 moons.

Taken from my backyard in the Bay Area. This is a combination from 948 exposures for a total of 74.5Hrs.
