Not convinced it's raising taxes that'll do that - it's the fact nothing works. If they can fix education and healthcare then people don't mind paying more tax (within reason)

But literally this death is avoidable - and for a relatively minor £200 per year of subsidised energy. I am more than happy for my taxes to contribute to the social security net that includes medical costs. I hope you never need to decide between life and death in your own family

The threshold is 80k not 100k. And if you're earning 80k you can survive without the £1.3k. altho you are correct it should be household not individual income

Almost definitely the teacher said something along the lines of 'if you don't try hard/do homework/behave then you won't do well. The kid has forgotten the start of the sentence because that involved putting in effort
