My guess is a bit of ignorance and treating the company like an individual. A solo dev using genAI isn't going to really have that drastic effect in their eyes, then multiply that by the number of employees at larian. At least talking devs the transcript implies it's a choice at the individual level

Balatro I think executes it the best or at least one of but even so doing a new "deck" will still feel like a slog getting to the harder parts. Hades I find one of the more frustrating ones since it explicitly takes tools you got away from you instead of making it difficult with your tools still
