I'd argue ppl read as much content as they ever have before; just not the kinda reading they've done in the past. It's not about the quantity at all. For the exception of the comment about being romantic or poetic that feels so out of place, I'd say that's the real answer to those kinda questions.

C'mon. It's totally a tongue-in-cheek comment & meme. That's absolutely not being salty at all. Also, they're a studio that puts a ton of time and effort into making games with loads of historical depth and accuracy. Saying they're in it for the wrong reasons is just really off base. No offense.

I was replaying them awhile back but got stuck on FF3. It just feels so mediocre on so many levels compared to the others.

For sure. I would say thanks to them for at least giving us an ending regardless of whether it's decisive. Blaming them or anyone besides Martin just seems misplaced. I read the books while watching the show, and while I liked them overall, I regret reading them because it was kind of pointless.

The fact this man became a household name as an interviewer and has held on to that attention is all the evidence I need to know we are so cooked.

Why would you start a series now that will likely never be finished unless someone like Sanderson picks it up a decade or two from now? It would be like watching Kill Bill vol. 1 and not expecting a volume 2...

Why blame "them"? He's the writer. He was the one who was supposed to put out the books before the series finished. That seems weird to fault the showrunners for doing their part. Did you want them to just stop the show and wait for him?
