Because I had a baby and having a baby is crazy, I have like no time. I have to watch in 5-10 minute increments. It’s like allowing yourself a gummy bear here and there throughout the day. Why is it so good?! Ugh another outstanding season of drawtectives for me to marvel at. Thanks a lot Julia! 😜

It’s glaring that more than half of us only care about the harm that’s done to us than to everyone. It’s frustrating as hell that I have to write about why we shot ourselves in the foot with this one. I’m committed to uplifting black women’s voices. We need to know WHY books like this are harmful

But I think we can look at the book and the author and learn about how Scarlet was both oppressed and the oppressor. We can learn from GWTW about how intersectionality is healing and upholding the racist patriarchy hurts ourselves as white women.

The book has VERY harmful depictions and narratives, and the enforcement of those narratives is not okay. I am absolutely not defending the book or movie AT ALL. Scarlet is not a hero, and society has used this book to romanticize the ugly truth of the south.

Hubbs and I just finished your video over the weekend, we loved it. You did an awesome job at portraying Waters as an imperfect auteur. I felt an odd mixture of respect, fondness, and just a little bit of repulsion for waters by the end ( which I think is the point) It’s definitely a shame.
