Anime fans will literally sever their spines to bend over backwards pretending queer characters don’t exist. What’s so surprising with Yamato though, is that One Piece has an extensive history of queer characters. Like Yamato isn’t even the only trans character in that panel!
Being part of the queer community definitely gave me unique insights, bc seeing the one piece community collectively jumping backwards to explain Yamato's deal is so fucking embarassing. Some of the weirdest, far-reaching & dumbest takes just not to acknowledge the possibility that he's trans.
