I can’t believe it took this long. Still chilling to think about all these years later. I remember everyone was so fearful and glued to news updates in my college dorm. May their families find a bit of peace after so many years of anguish.

Agreed. Looking to balance immersion and existing French friendships with an accessible network, anticipating some transitional isolation as non-native speaker. I’ve been advised to prepare for feeing like you are relearning life’s basics. Always appreciate the inspiration and wisdom of your posts.

Ille-et-Vilaine, Mayanne, Orne, & Calvados. We’re in San Francisco, so looking at climate. My husband is French, making it easier, but also looking at ex pat community, knowing importance of English-speaking network. Open to any advice. We were already thinking retirement there prior to this chaos.
